Milk producers think of the least fortunate

 In the spirit of the approaching Holiday Season, Quebec's milk producers are donating nearly 41,000 litres of milk to the least fortunate. This milk will be added to the some 840,000 of litres of milk already donated in 2011 by producers, transporters and processors as part of the milk donation program.

In Quebec alone, in 2009, the 6,300 dairy farms provided 81,279 direct, indirect and induced jobs throughout the commodity chain, and contributed $5.1 billion to the Canadian gross domestic product (GDP).

According to a new study by ÉcoRessources Consultants, the dairy sector is one of the leading agricultural sectors in Canada, and the largest in Quebec.
